KIZOMBA

Kizomba is one of the most popular dance genres that first appeared in the 1980s and has its roots in Angola.It has been influenced by other Portuguese-speaking countrie.
It was originally known as “Passada” which means step. In the Angolan dialect Kimbundu the word “Kizomba” means “Party.” Kizomba is a derived dance from the Semba dance (Angola).
To the authentic music of Semba and Zouk,there was added a modern and very sensual touch,that resulted in Kizomba or like many call it the “Tango of Angola”.
Loved a lot by the world for the beautiful music and the African rhythm that combines romance and sensuality.

SEMBA

Semba is a rhythmic form of music and dance from Angola.
It was born in the 20th century at the creative intersection of traditional African dances with a colonial European influence. The characteristic rhythm of Semba is one of the main contributors to the
music and the Kizomba dance, that we know and love.
It is said that the word “samba” comes from the word “massemba” which means “touch of bellies” -one of the most characteristic and entertaining moves in Semba.
A very playful dance from which Kizomba was born.
